I normally
try to offer my customers a secondhand alternative to
buying a new boat. This is however difficult with Arrans
as they are hard to find. The problem is that once you
have owned one you will not want to sell it.
As an alternative I therefore recommend
and sell secondhand Orkney Longliners, Dell Quay Fisher
15s and the Robert Ives Fisher 15.
The last two boats are no longer in production but plenty
still exist.
All are good sturdy boats but in my opinion they are
not as good as an Arran 16.

Many of these secondhand boats come
on unsuitable trailers which are often, too big, too
small or simply dropping to bits. I have learnt my towing
lessons the hard way it is just not worth the risk.
The scrap man gets the junk, the rest are refurbished
and offered for sale. If I would not like to tow it
I simply will not sell it.
